About
A guided tour of the exhibition "Einblick ins Geheime" at the former Stasi headquarters. It presents documents on the surveillance of the singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann by the East German state security service. Biermann, who moved from Hamburg to the GDR in the early 1950s and influenced the cultural scene despite a ban on performing, was watched ever more intensively the more critically he expressed himself and the deeper his friendships with opponents of the SED regime grew. The tour also covers how the Stasi handled his expatriation in November 1976 and the reactions of the GDR cultural scene; afterwards visitors can see the sample file collection of the Stasi records archive and submit an application to view their own files.
