About
An evening tribute to effects master Ray Harryhausen, featuring a talk followed by a screening of the classic Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Artist and sculptor Al Friswell, who conserves Harryhausen's creatures, gives an illustrated presentation on his life and career, covering the stop-motion technique 'Dynamation' and celebrated films such as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Clash of the Titans. He then introduces one of Harryhausen's earliest films, in which atom bomb blasts in the Arctic cause 'something' to stir to life. The evening is presented by the Gothique Film Society, which specialises in double bills for lovers of the macabre.
