About

Angel's Bone is a dark, unsettling opera about two bruised angels who fall into a couple's garden and are exploited by them. It comes from Pulitzer Prize-winning contemporary composer Du Yun and librettist Royce Vavrek, staged by director Kip Williams for English National Opera. Mr and Mrs X.E, a couple facing financial crisis and a crumbling marriage, nurse the angels back to life before clipping their wings and exploiting them in pursuit of fame and fortune. Du Yun's score fuses genres from chamber music and cabaret to electronica and punk, while Williams's immersive staging uses projection and multiple viewing angles to make audiences question their own part in the exploitation.
