About
This is a new staging of Puccini's opera Tosca by the English National Opera at the London Coliseum. ENO Artistic Director Annilese Miskimmon reimagines the timeless opera about love and tyranny in a concert hall in a European state overrun by civil war, exploring the art of resistance and love in the face of political censorship. Opera singer Floria Tosca and her lover, the painter Cavaradossi, are hunted by the sadistic police chief Scarpia, and over a single night Tosca is forced to fight for her love, her honour and her life. Sung in English with surtitles, the production features some of Puccini's most iconic arias, with Axelle Fanyo making her ENO debut as Tosca alongside Chaz'men Williams-Ali and Christopher Purves.
