About

A comic double bill of two rarely performed operettas that work as prequel and sequel to the same love story. In The Zoo, a pair of young lovers get engaged despite hidden identities and mischievous mix-ups, while in Trial by Jury Angelina sues her former fiancé Edwin for breach of promise before a romantically inclined judge. Directed by Gilbert & Sullivan specialist John Savournin with a 1980s vibe, the show is conducted by Olivier Award winner Peter Whelan and stars Mary Bevan and Robert Murray as the turbulent love-birds. Sung in English with surtitles, it is packed with wit, romance, absurdity and social satire.
