About
A choral concert called 'An English Baroque Journey I: Sacred Music – ‘The Music More Full Than It Was’' performed by the ensemble Arcangelo with a team of eight singers led by director and harpsichordist Jonathan Cohen. The programme explores sacred music from England’s Chapel Royal around the time of Oliver Cromwell’s Republic and the restoration of Charles II, with anthems by Christopher Gibbons, Matthew Locke, Pelham Humfrey, John Blow, Maurice Greene, Henry Purcell and a finale of Handel’s 'O praise the Lord with one consent'. The concert, dedicated to the memory of Greta Hemus, runs approximately two hours including an interval.
