About

An illustrated lecture about a 1913 Arctic expedition, in which explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson dispatched a small, ill-equipped voyage to claim Wrangel Island in the Siberian Arctic for the British Empire, believing its possession would control the future. The lecture takes place at the National Maritime Museum and is also livestreamed to Zoom. It is told by Giles Milton, an internationally bestselling author of a dozen works of narrative history whose books have been translated into 25 languages. Milton is also the writer and narrator of the podcast series Ministry of Secrets, produced by Sony.
