About

An evening of film screenings, discussion and debate focused on the audiovisual heritage of the Indian sub-continent. It is presented by the Colonial Reels project team, who report back from their symposium on South Asian archive footage held in the British and Indian national film archives. Films from the British Film Institute, the British Empire and Commonwealth Collection and Wellcome Collection will be introduced by project members including Imruh Bakari, Haroon Forde, Jacqueline Maingard, Rosa Méthol, Emma Sandon and Angela Saward. Themes include colonial film historiography, indigenous erasure, plantations and refineries, the ecologies of the colonial short film, and the afterlives of colonial reels in British archives, followed by drinks and nibbles in the cinema foyer.
