About

Garefowl is a live music performance by the international collective of the same name, with support from Visit Me. The group presents their new album 'Things That Vanish', recorded at night on the archipelago of St Kilda, Scotland, whose soundscapes of winds, waves and birds breathe across the record. The pieces take inspiration from the threatened seabirds of St Kilda, and the project was conceived by Ewan Macdonald, who with his father Murdo is a relative of one of the men who killed the last Great Auk, to reflect on this family history and connection to St Kilda. The collective combines strings and electronics, featuring Nathan Bontrager, Stuart Graham, Chris Jones, Ewan Macdonald, Richard O'Flynn and Jess Whelligan.
