About
The London Jazz Orchestra Festival Special is a concert of one 75-minute set of brand new music by the band's composer/soloists, part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. The London Jazz Orchestra, whose residency at the Vortex has been a London jazz institution since the club's opening, is directed by Scott Stroman and features legendary soloists as well as exciting new talent. The band's new Primetime album on Analogue/October records received rave reviews, to be followed by Between Earth and Sky later this season. The set features music by Stroman, saxophonists Pete Hurt, Tori Freestone and Mick Foster, pianist Alcyona Mick, guitarist Nick Costley-White, bassist Calum Gourlay, and trumpeters Andre Cannier and Henry Lowther.
