Martine Syms Knot Eye

"Knot Eye" is an exhibition by the American artist Martine Syms at the gallery Sadie Coles HQ. It brings together two new films, "RW-LO" and "Ex Voto", alongside an iteration of Dominica Publishing, which works both as an artwork and a concept store. "RW-LO" is a 22-minute docu-fantasy set in the Garden District of New Orleans in the year 2000, blending reenactments with home movies of Brent David Freaney, once a Deep South teenager obsessed with a Real World New Orleans castmate, asking what happens when people become celebrities and stop being real. "Ex Voto" is a three-handed ensemble set in a New York apartment after a wrap party, where a Director and her two leads stay up drunk and high until the Director leaves this plane of reality.
