About
ArtsEd stages the musical 'Phantom of the Opera', with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe, and a book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber based on Gaston Leroux's novel, directed by Rupert Hands. It tells of a masked figure lurking beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, terrorising all who work there. He falls madly in love with the innocent young soprano Christine and devotes himself to making her a new star, nurturing her talents and using every devious method at his command. The double-cast student production on this date is performed by the Music Company, led by Lasairfhíona De Brun as Christine and Dominic Birtley as the Phantom.
