Ray Gelato & Simon Spillett is a jazz evening at the 606 Club celebrating the tenor saxophone. Ray Gelato, a singer and saxophonist known as Britain's 'Godfather of Swing', and Simon Spillett, a saxophonist who leads his own big band and quartet, are both well-loved cornerstones of the UK jazz scene. Their repertoire honours the classic tenor tradition of US masters like Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins and Dexter Gordon, built on great songs and a hard swinging rhythm section. Expect on-stage fun too, as the pair keep the ideal of jazz as great entertainment.
