Where Have All the Flowers Gone?

About
"Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" is an exhibition of new paintings shown at an art gallery. It presents a new body of work by the British artist Richard Nott, taking its title from a 1961 folk anthem and filling the canvas with vivid, celebratory flowers rather than lamenting their disappearance. Nott reimagines floral forms drawn from historic Asian ceramics, Indian miniatures, Chinese painting and English embroidery, using layered, scraped and marbled paint applied mainly with palette knives. His engagement with floral motifs is rooted in a fashion career that began as a design assistant to Valentino and included co-founding the label Workers for Freedom, recipient of the 1989 Designer of the Year Award.
