About
A lecture by Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, Curator of American Decorative Arts at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, held in the Members' Room and online at The New York Society Library. She presents her new book 'Designing the Gilded Age', the catalog for an exhibition opening at The Met in mid-October and closing in early February. The book presents 150 rarely seen design drawings from the studios of Louis Comfort Tiffany, revealing the artistry behind his iconic stained-glass windows, lamps, mosaics, and interiors. It also highlights the contributions of other designers, including women and immigrants, whose identities have been subsumed under the Tiffany name.
