About
The Queens Jazz Orchestra returns to Flushing Town Hall for a concert celebrating the centennial of NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath (October 25, 1926 – January 19, 2020). Under the direction of saxophonist Antonio Hart, Heath's protégé personally chosen by him to carry on his legacy, the orchestra performs Heath's orchestral compositions, including works never before performed to the public. Heath, a proud longtime Queens resident, performed with nearly every major figure in jazz and dedicated his life to championing it. The evening honors his life, music, and memory with what is promised as a special night of swing.
