About
The Ruben Coca Quartet Performance & Percussion Workshop is a concert with an interactive percussion workshop marking Hispanic Heritage Month. The quartet is led by jazz drummer, composer, and arranger Ruben Coca, who also leads the workshop. The performance offers soulful renditions of jazz and Latin jazz standards alongside original compositions with rhythms for salsa, rumba, and more. The workshop explores rhythm in everyday life through body percussion and Latin rhythms such as rumba clave, son clave, and guaguancó, before the band demonstrates them in an ensemble.
