About

Tomashi Jackson and Robert Rauschenberg: The Catch One is an exhibition of newly commissioned paintings by Tomashi Jackson shown in dialogue with works by Robert Rauschenberg from The Glass House's permanent collection. It marks the centennial of Rauschenberg's birth and includes two of his Spread-series works, Ring Master and Recital, made in 1980, alongside additional pieces from The Glass House collection and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. Jackson's new paintings draw on archival images of Jewel's Catch One, a Black lesbian-owned nightclub in Los Angeles that under owner Jewel Thais Williams offered a welcoming space, cultural programming, and social support to Black and queer communities. Curated by Cole Akers, the exhibition is organized by The Glass House in partnership with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation.
