Carmina Burana: Orff's cantata with Sinfonietta Bern.

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff comes to the Kirche Fraumünster in an intimate chamber version. The work is performed by the renowned Ensemble Sinfonietta Bern under pianist and conductor Igor Andreev, with a choir assembled in collaboration with Creator Classics, a Vienna-based opera collective. Composed in 1935–1936, the cantata is based on 24 poems from the medieval Codex Buranus and speaks of the eternal cycles of fortune, desire, love and loss. Newly adapted from the original manuscripts, it follows the traditional three-part structure of spring's awakening, the tavern and the court of love, framed by a dramatic prologue and epilogue.
