About
«Ikonen» is a special exhibition in the Kunsthaus Zürich's Chipperfield building, presenting selected works from its own collection across roughly 800 m². Curated by Maja Wismer, it brings together well-known highlights – from Monet's water lilies and Warhol's soup can to Bacon's triptych – and places them in new relationships to one another. In chronological and transhistorical groupings, paintings, sculptures and graphics from 1622 to 1998 meet, such as Monet alongside Hodler or Tinguely's machine sculpture combined with a painting by H. R. Giger. Zurich residents share personal texts explaining why a work they each chose touches or accompanies them.
