About
«Zardoz» is a monumental, over eight-meter-high sculptural head in the garden of the Kunsthaus Zürich that visitors can enter and explore. It was created by Monster Chetwynd, an artist born in London and living in Zurich, who is the first woman to realize a commissioned work for the Kunsthaus's garden. The work draws inspiration from the grotesque figures of the 16th-century garden of Bomarzo, from science fiction visions of the 1970s and from the tradition of the Follies. Combining art history, pop culture and feminist strategies, its walk-in climbing frame makes the garden a genuine "garden of art" for the first time.
