About
The Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial presents the research-based theatre piece „Mikrokosmos 1990. Anfang und Ende eines Landes“ by the theatre collective Vajswerk. It follows four young people from Leipzig, Rostock, Hoyerswerda and Berlin through the year 1990, who after the Peaceful Revolution and the fall of the Wall face the question: „Und wie geht es weiter?“ Based on research into historical material, the piece creates a many-layered portrait of a country in upheaval, telling of a generation's experiences in the year of German unity and drawing a line to the present. The joint event with the district's business development office of Lichtenberg sets the stage for the Berlin Freedom Week 2026 and invites reflection on the upheavals of the Wende era as well as on freedom and democracy.
