An event in the series „Bodies of Law“ on the right to bodily integrity and the question of who owns a body. Philosopher Esther Neuhann and author and performer Lina Majdalanie question the status of the body, caught between self-determination and state, religious or communal rules. Neuhann presents her concept of „verkörperte Integrität“ (embodied integrity), a body-affirming approach to valuing the individual in liberal democracies. Majdalanie performs a version of her lecture performance „Appendice“, starting from her thwarted wish to be cremated after death, which is forbidden in Lebanon.
