About
The Busoni Composition Prize 2026 is awarded to the South African composer Njabulo Phungula at an award ceremony with concert; the promotional prize goes to the Lebanese composer Raphaëlle Aoun. The prize was endowed in 1988 by Aribert Reimann and is given every two to three years to young composers for compositions of particular quality and originality. Phungula's music is marked by sensitivity and artistic depth, combining complexity with immediacy, while Aoun's works impress with sonic refinement and invite reflection on contemporary music. ensemble mosaik performs works by both prize winners as well as compositions by Ferruccio Busoni in the Plenary Hall of the Academy of Arts.
