Hirschman Prize honoring democratic engagement.
VOICE Albert O. Hirschman Preis
About
The VOICE Albert O. Hirschman Preis is a ceremonial award ceremony held by the Stiftung Kommunikationsaufbau, which has been awarded annually since 2024 in memory of the sociologist, economist and activist Albert O. Hirschman. It honors individuals, groups or projects that support the participation of disadvantaged groups, counter political disillusionment or oppose populism. In 2026, the main prize of 7,000 euros goes to Max Schneller and his initiative maximal.demokratisch, and two further awards of 4,000 euros each go to the Inklusive Radio IrreLeicht of Freies Radio CORAX and to Lorie Quint for the project Briefwechsel: Von Kiez zu Kiez. At the ceremony the prize winners will be honored and give insights into their work, with musical accompaniment by the Chor der Statistik and Bernadette la Hengst.
