About
Ingeborg Bachmann - Jemand, der einmal ich war is a documentary about the writer Ingeborg Bachmann, released for her 100th birthday. Director Regina Schilling, together with actress Sandra Hüller, approaches Bachmann's life on an imaginary day, giving her words an intense presence. Using a weave of improvised scenes, archival material, interviews and Bachmann's own texts, the film traces the central phases of the author's life, from her wartime childhood in Carinthia to her last days in Rome. It also shows her complicated relationships with Paul Celan, Hans Werner Henze and Max Frisch and her struggle for a radical language of her own.
