In the open-air grounds of the Archenhold Observatory, a programme from the German competition of the 42nd Berlin International Short Film Festival runs under the title „Scams & Pilze“. Behind it is the interfilm festival, which is showing short films under the motto „Shared Shores“. It asks what scams and mushrooms have in common: both thrive everywhere, spread and appear where nobody expects them – from mushroom websites and a scam call that becomes an unexpectedly intimate conversation to AI fantasies pushing us to the edge of madness. Memories, guilt and faraway places form their own webs in which humans and machines tunnel through real and virtual worlds.
