About
"K." is a music theatre piece by the Berliner Ensemble, conceived as a talmudic vaudeville show inspired by Kafka's novel "The Trial". It is directed by opera director Barrie Kosky, who stages Kafka's most famous novel and other texts as an exploration of Kafka's Judaism in German, Yiddish and Hebrew, each with German surtitles. The music ranges from Bach and Schumann to Yiddish vaudeville, which Kafka discovered in 1911 at performances by an Eastern Jewish theatre troupe in Prague. After the performance on this evening, the Helene Weigel Theatre Prize 2025/26 will be awarded to Kathrin Wehlisch.
