About

A panel discussion on graffiti in photography and film at the URBAN NATION Museum. It is hosted by the museum's Martha Cooper Library; the panel brings together director Florian Gaag (Wholetrain), photographer and former graffiti artist Jennifer Kauka, and criminal defense attorney Florian Schoenrock. It looks at what these images mean for documenting this largely temporary art form and what role they play as evidence in criminal prosecution. It also asks why these often anonymous records are made even though they can lead to prosecution, and how they at the same time make graffiti culture visible and place it in historical context.
