About
“Metaxy : Zwischen Zerstörung und Wiederaufbau” is an exhibition with a four-part programme of events at the Akademie der Künste on Hanseatenweg. It is a project by the Akademie der Künste in collaboration with ARCH+, curated by a team around Anh-Linh Ngo, Johanna M. Keller and Christian Hiller. The exhibition looks at the uncertain moment between destruction and reconstruction, when it is still open how societies deal with loss, guilt and memory. Starting from the Academy building as an exemplary site of post-1945 reconstruction, it presents a search for traces of the colonial and National Socialist history of Berlin's Hansaviertel alongside positions from twelve countries including Ukraine, Syria and the USA; the largest exhibit is the exhibition architecture itself, which traces the ground plan of the site's former buildings at a scale of 1:1.
