Ramona Schacht: Vom Bauhaus auf die Krim. Eine Bildbefragung zu Alfred Ehrhardts Tabakserien
Alfred Ehrhardt Stiftung, Auguststraße 75, 10117 Berlin, Mitte
About
The exhibition Ramona Schacht: Vom Bauhaus auf die Krim. Eine Bildbefragung zu Alfred Ehrhardts Tabakserien presents historical industrial photographs by Alfred Ehrhardt in a completely new, contemporary light. The Alfred Ehrhardt Stiftung shows them for the first time, curated by Stefanie Regina Dietzel. The focus is on works Ehrhardt made between 1954 and 1963 on commission for the tobacco company Reemtsma & Co., including his film Die Welt des Tabaks (1956) and the photographs produced alongside it. Leipzig artist Ramona Schacht (*1989) takes up this material in her new work Photography’s Claim to Property. Bilder im Auftrag Reemtsmas, examining which political, economic and bodily orders become visible in the images and which stay concealed, notably in the depiction of female labour, with self-grown tobacco plants accompanying the show.
