ALFRED JANES (1911-1999) – Paintings and constructions 1930s – 1980s, from the Artist’s Estate
Abbott and Holder Ltd, Museum Street 30, London, Bloomsbury
About
An exhibition of paintings and constructions by Alfred Janes (1911-1999), spanning his career from the 1930s to the 1980s, with all works coming from the Artist's Estate. It celebrates the forthcoming publication of the first monograph on the artist, Ceri Thomas' 'Alfred Janes, Maker of Pictures'. The show traces Janes' changing styles, from meticulously executed still lifes of the 1930s through experimental works of the late 1950s and 1960s to 1980s works that repurposed earlier paintings. A private view takes place on the opening Thursday from 6 to 8pm, and the exhibition continues until Saturday 7th November.
