About

Il Trittico is a trio of one-act operas by Puccini, presented together as he intended, with lovers, mothers, and gold-diggers clashing in stories of jealousy, shame, and betrayal. Olivier Award winner Richard Jones directs and Speranza Scappucci conducts three casts featuring Natalya Romaniw, Étienne Dupuis, SeokJong Baek, Ermonela Jaho and Bryn Terfel. In Il tabarro, Giorgetta seeks solace after the death of her baby by having an affair; in Suor Angelica, a nun is visited by a relative with unwelcome news; and in Gianni Schicchi, a Florentine family enlists Schicchi to rewrite a will, though he has a scheme of his own. The three works move between tragic jealousy, agonising shame and hilarious chaos, each in its own distinct but complementary musical world.
