About

"Seed Memory" is an exhibition of new oil paintings and sculptures by Meeson Pae, on view at 372 Broadway, with an opening reception from 6-8 pm. The Korean American artist, who lives and works in Los Angeles, paints invented organisms that suggest flowers, fungi, and seedpods in dark landscapes recalling nineteenth-century Romantic and Symbolist painting. Works were inspired partly by her visits to Jeju, South Korea, where her family traces its origins, and sculptures in ceramic, cast metal, and plaster sit on lily-pad-shaped steel platforms like miniature islands. This is Pae's second solo exhibition at the gallery and her first presentation in New York.
