About

This English-language talk in the "Physics & Pizza" series takes place in the Anna-von-Helmholtz-Bau of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and can also be followed online at the same time; registration is required. Physicist Dr. Laura Niermann of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena speaks about measuring distortions of the crystal lattice in nanomaterials. She explains how dynamical diffraction, an effect often seen as a nuisance, can be inverted in 4D-STEM measurements to recover all components of the three-dimensional strain tensor at the nanoscale. Afterwards there is a get-together over pizza and drinks; the event is sponsored by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.
