About
A concert in the “Jazz am Helmholzplatz” series, part of “Hot Tropical Nights”, in which a quintet of electric guitar, accordion, piano, bass and drums performs works by the Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali. Classically trained as a pianist, composer and arranger, he combined jazz, popular music and classical music with Brazilian rhythms such as choro and samba. The evening centres on his quintets between chamber music and jazz, which will be performed in Germany for the first time, based on handwritten manuscripts from his estate made available by his nephew Roberto Gnattali. Under the musical direction of Trigo Santana, musicians from Berlin's jazz and Brazil scenes interpret the works from the perspective of improvised music.
