About
A tribute concert to the Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal, who died in Rio de Janeiro in 2025 at the age of 89. Berlin's Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, led by Daniel Glatzel, joins Hermeto's Mothership – musicians who shared the stage with Pascoal for decades – together with the flutist Mariana Zwarg, his goddaughter. In 2015 Pascoal worked with a German ensemble in Berlin for the first time, performing his own music in arrangements by someone else for the first time. As part of the orchestra's 20th-anniversary programs, this concert honours the versatile body of work of a Brazilian visionary who blended jazz, Brazilian traditions and odd rhythms with ease.
