About
A talk with photos and a conversation with contemporary witnesses about the lives of lesbians in small towns of the GDR. In 1989, Christiane Kloweit and Ina Röder Sissoko researched the realities of lesbian life in the provinces; their findings were presented at the first lesbian conference of the GDR in Halle. Judith Geffert illuminates the history of this conference in the autumn of the 1989 political upheaval and its significance for the visibility of lesbian life. She draws connections to the situation of lesbians outside large cities today.
