About
Nacht auf der Sternwarte is a live-moderated night of stargazing with the 500-mm Cassegrain reflecting telescope of the Archenhold-Sternwarte in Treptower Park, Germany's largest and oldest public observatory. In clear weather, visitors can observe planets, the Moon and so-called deep-sky objects such as stars, nebulae and galaxies. Experts answer questions during the observation and share fascinating facts about the celestial bodies as well as the technology and history of the instruments. The event lasts 90 minutes, is suitable from age 12, takes place partly outdoors and in unheated rooms – warm clothing is recommended – and in poor weather an artificial starry sky in the planetarium serves as an alternative.
