Handel's Salon with Chantefable is an evening of music called Heaven & Hell, held in the rooms where Handel once lived and entertained. The duo Chantefable, soprano Mariana Rodrigues and harpsichordist Andrew Cowie, perform music by Handel and his European contemporaries, woven together with spoken poetry and improvisation on heaven and hell. Their programme features libretti in English, Italian and German, the languages Handel set to music. Chantefable blends early music, folk, jazz, opera and oratorio in a form echoing the 13th-century French tradition of alternating song and story.
