About
«She-Devils on Wheels – Angels on Heels» is an exhibition at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst presenting works from its own collection in new constellations. It brings together the artists Sylvie Fleury and Shamiran Istifan, who move between the visual worlds of pop culture, mythology, the everyday and glamour. The starting point is Fleury's «She-Devils on Wheels – Headquarters» (1997), which transforms the exhibition space into the headquarters of a car club and playfully questions stereotypical gender images with objects such as oversized lipstick tips. Istifan shows new works centred on the film figure Irma Vep, with which she challenges fixed ideas of gender and belonging and shifts familiar meanings.
