About
ANCXSTRAL FREQUENCIES - sonic rituals is a live sound ritual and experimental performance at the 20nine30 studio in Berlin. It is created by the artists RUSNAM and Anguezomo Nzé Mba Bikoro, who perform this evening together with Luana Madikera. The set draws on Gnawa percussion, Nigerian talking drums, Bwiti ritual sounds, Afro-Caribbean samples and Arabic rhythmic cycles, layered with vinyl, plant sounds, women's voices, singing, spoken word and improvisation over heavy, pulsating bass and polyrhythms. Part of the series Re-Rootings - Weaving Sonic Histories of the Global South, it brings suppressed musical histories, feminist memory and decolonial perspectives into a shared space of listening and movement.
