About
A public guided tour offers an exclusive look at the Botanical Museum Berlin before it reopens: the historic building has been extensively renovated and the first objects of the new exhibition have already moved in. Visitors can discover rooms in the making, look behind the scenes and meet objects with surprising stories, from plant sexuality to a giant sequoia whose history reaches back to the Cold War. The museum, which will tell the story of plants, fungi and algae and their many relationships with humans, is currently being created anew – botanical museums are rare worldwide. The tour is led by Susanne Feldmann, curator of the new exhibition and head of the Museum & Exhibition department, together with Dr. Luiza Bengtsson, head of the Museum & Society department, and is part of the Berlin Science Week 2026 programme.
