About
The duo exhibition "Isaac Chong Wai & Käthe Kollwitz – Die Mütter" presents photographs, sculptures and a video installation in the gallery of Kulturhaus Schwartzsche Villa. The artist Isaac Chong Wai, who lives in Berlin and Hong Kong, engages in a posthumous dialogue with Käthe Kollwitz, one of the most significant German artists of the 20th century. Curated by Christine Nippe, the exhibition focuses on mothers and their fear of war with regard to their children – feelings of guilt, grief and anger. On view are three of Kollwitz's sculptures, including "Pietà" (1937–38), the two-channel video installation "Die Mütter" (2022) and photographs such as "Breathwork" and a self-portrait; admission is free.
