About
A book presentation followed by a discussion devoted to the book „Lesbische Selbstbehauptung in der DDR“. Drawing on texts, interviews and archival material, author Dr. Teresa Tammer tells the life story of Karin Dauenheimer, who as a theologian, feminist, lesbian and single mother did not fit the expectations of state and society. Dauenheimer wrote for a feminist underground magazine and organized women's festivals that became a crucial impetus for the emergence of a GDR-wide lesbian movement, which put her under the surveillance of the State Security for years. The event is hosted by the Bundesarchiv – Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv in cooperation with the Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft e.V. and the Saxon Commissioner for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, with the author and the contemporary witness appearing in person.
