About
"Worldstar" is a documentary about the photographer Miroslav Tichý, who in his old age gained world fame against his will. It was directed by Nataša von Kopp, who will be present at the screening. The film tells of a trained painter who, under communism, was regularly committed to a psychiatric hospital because of his wild appearance, and whose photographs were traded in the art world for up to 12,000 euros by the time the film was made. He himself lived apart from fame and wealth, fending off the rush of interested parties with irony – marking the 100th birthday of Tichý.
