Talks and readings
Neil Fujita: from internment camp to The Godfather.
About
A talk by artist and educator Kenji Fujita about his father, Sadamitsu Neil Fujita, and his life and work. It traces Neil Fujita from imprisonment at the Heart Mountain internment camp and service in a segregated all-Nisei regiment in World War II to designing album covers at Columbia Records for musicians like Dave Brubeck and Charles Mingus. It also covers his own company, where he designed logos, packaging, book covers, and the iconic design and illustration for Mario Puzo's The Godfather (1969). The talk is presented by MFA Fine Arts and touches on the recently opened Barnes Foundation exhibition 'Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America.'
