About

An exhibition of new paintings by Ross Bleckner at Petzel Gallery, his fourth solo show with the gallery. Bleckner paints through an intuitive, associative process, building each canvas from images collected over years from newspapers, books, magazines and daily life. Rather than illustrating a single idea, the works drift between recognition and abstraction, with motifs repeated, layered and reconfigured until their origins become hard to locate. Paintings such as Medicine Cabinet, Where Is My Body and The Dancers unfold as a stream of visual consciousness guided by intuition.
