The documentary „Ein Spezialist“ by Eyal Sivan assembles exclusively original footage of the 1961 Eichmann trial into a haunting portrait of the defendant. From roughly 500 hours of recorded trial material, of which 350 hours survive, the film concentrates on previously unpublished visual documents. Guided by Hannah Arendt's notion of the „banality of evil“, it shows Eichmann not as a demonic monster but as an unremarkable bureaucrat hiding behind procedural rules. The screening is embedded in a short introduction and a concluding discussion.
