About

GeDenkOrt.Charité invites visitors to a reading from the book "Psychiatrieerfahrungen im Elsass – Lebensgeschichten zwischen Strasbourg und Hadamar im Nationalsozialismus", followed by a conversation. The author Lea Münch, a physician and historian at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, traces the life stories of five women and men who were or became psychiatric patients in the annexed border region of Alsace. From Strasbourg, their paths sometimes led to the killing institution Hadamar, which became a symbol of the National Socialist "euthanasia" crimes. The work takes the perspective of those affected and explores intergenerational effects reaching into the present.
